About us

Chauncey Hawkins was born in the mid 70’s in Harlem, New York. Born to real life Harlem hustlers, Carol Hawkins and William “Hamburger” Hughley, Chauncy grew up in the streets witnessing the harsh realities of the inner city ghettos. As a way to escape the craziness of the streets, he began writing diaries of his life with an imaginative twist to at least mentally alter the environment around him.

At age thirteen his Grandmother saw it best to remove him from the dangers lurking in his Harlem surroundings. As a result, they sent him to live with his relatives in Los Angelas, California.

Moving to L.A. gave Chauncey the privilege of attending the prestigious “Beverly Hills High School.” Although his classmates include the likes of Angelina Jolie, (infamous Clinton intern) Monica Lewinsky, (convicted parent killers) the Menendez brothers, Chauncy was practically unfazed by the move, and instead of integrating into the “90210” lifestyle, he found himself more at home on the gang ridden streets of L.A. In bringing his “Harlem” craziness to L.A., he was deemed “Loon” by his peers, which coincided with his breakthrough in the Music industry.

After his initial breakthrough and dabbling in different record labels, “Loon” eventually found himself a home Sean “P. Diddy” Comes’s “Bad Boy Entertainment” label. In signing with the Bad Boy label, Loon went on to write and perform the platinum hits “I Need A Girl,” Parts 1 and 2 for the Album “P.Diddy Bad Boy Family: The Saga Continues.”

After writing multiple hit’s for P.Diddy all reaching the Top Ten of the Album Charts, “Loon” quickly became the most anticipated artist of the year, performing songs with 50 Cent, Jermaine Dupri, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Missy Elliott, Jamie Foxx, Ginuwine, Busta Rhymes, Faith Evans, Toni Braxton, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and more.

Due to the power structure of the Bad Boy Label, “Loon” felt it necessary to explore his own endeavors and went on to found his own record label “Boss Up Entertainment.”

While promoting his new business endeavor, “Loon” found himself touring the world performing in new, international markets. While touring in Dubai, an unsuspecting “Loon” would come face to face with a new awaking that would demand his attention as he heard the Adhan (Islamic call to prayer) being recited in the most beautiful, captivating way from the loudspeakers of the Mosques around him. Intrigued by this sound, he began an in depth study of it’s background, meaning and significance.

In his search, he found himself compelled to embrace the faith whole heartedly, and has become devote in his quest to understand the true teachings of the Holy Qur’an, and life of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.

The young Harlem born Chauncey sought writing as his refuge and went on to explore this quest for contentment through his “Loon” persona. However, his sincere quest led him on an unexpected twist, as he found what he was looking for not as Chauncy the Harlem hustler, not as Loon the Musician, but as Amir Junaid Muhadith, The Muslim.

17 November 2011, while engaged in a lecture tour in Belgium, brother Amir was suddenly arrested. America invoked the notorious “Patriot Act” and ordered him to be extradited back to the United States to be tried for ambiguous allegations of drug trafficking that “may have occurred between the years of 2006 and 2008,” before becoming Muslim. Amir was extradited back to America where he was sentenced in the United States District Court of North Carolina for 14years for his involvement in a drugs “conspiracy” case before his reversion to Islam.
